When I was editing my clips today, I had the idea of making my video follow the theme of making it look 'vintage' by adding different effects to it.
I will do this by making the footage slightly grainy, and slightly lowering the quality of the footage to make it seem as though it was filmed on a very old camera.
This will fit with the image of my band very well, especially as it links to the record player idea, and the fact that the single will be released as a vinyl aswell.
Once I have tried a few different effects and edits, I will upload them to my blog and evaluate them in a blog post, so I am able to see which one would fit with my music video most - I may ask some of my peers for their opinions also.
I've taken a look at your (22s) rough cut. A few thoughts:
ReplyDeleteThe opening credits are okay, but you should check the transition between the first and second title (a little abrupt). Check the format of the "produced by.." credit - your name should be on one line and the leading (the space between lines) should be less
We could maybe do a better job on the record (I would keep it spinning and fade it out, or put a vinyl scratch effect at the end if you're going to freeze it).
Your producer credit flashes up again just as it starts - check your timeline
The second shot - you need to edit it a little later, since you catch the moment where you start moving
The editing seems quite tight, for the first few beats, although obviously it's hard to appraise the full thing since there is only about 10s of actual video.
Basically, impossible to really give you any advice; if you carry on in this way, the editing will be fine, but not sure how your performance footage is going to integrate. Ideally, I'd like to see a full edit by the end of the week.
