"What have you learned from audience feedback?"

Below are the answers to the questionnaire I distributed for the evaluation question.

After watching my music video, what are your initial thoughts about it?

"The way the angles were really made it more effective, for example when the bedroom door shut. Another example is when you were walking up the stairs and threw the clothes back down, that was very effective. I also liked that parts in the woods/ by the river where you were holding hands, cuddling etc. as this brought positive vibes to the audience and made us feel like we were sharing that moment with you two"

"It looked professional, and the choice of making it black and white really suited the video 'theme' and linked to your song choice well. The angles and effects were also very effective and suited the mood of the whole video, making it captivate the viewer, and I myself felt like I couldn't take my eyes off of it until the end. It was a lovely and creative video that I thoroughly enjoyed watching."

"Interesting piece, quite well shot and an interesting story and narrative is shown"

"The video flows really smoothly through each shot, and I like the black and white effect. Also the camera work in the woods area is good, well directed!"

Would you say that the music video fits with the tone of the song? And why?

"It was romantic but also showed bits of you arguing. This song was powerful and sort of gave me vibes of a love but sometimes that love would die, but sometimes it was full on out there when you were cuddling etc. It showed your relationship with the boy in the way you wanted it presented."

"The mood of the video suited the song very well. for example, I feel as though the choice of using black and white fitted the song well, and the little snapshots of the relationship between the male and female linked to the song very well, making it fit together like a story, and flow very effectively"

Would you say that the music video looked professional? And why?

"I thought it was excellent but no one is ever perfect. The way you set it out was amazing, the ideas you had etc. This isn't a bad thing don't worry as I think the video was amazing! I wouldn't have been able to do this in a million years."

"I thought it looked very realistic and had many effects within it that made it look professional however nothing is perfect, and I haven't seen the real music video to compare. (Even though I am aware that it is not meant to be the same as the original video) Overall very good though."

How professional would you say the magazine advert is? And why?

"I thought this cover was very professional and looks like something that a professional person would make."

"At first I thought it was a real magazine advert which is why I rated it so highly, however it is maybe slightly plain so at first I didn't know what it was."

"It looks very effective and makes you want to buy the album."

If you saw this advert in a magazine, would you stop to read it?

"The 'little gone life' part really stands out and looks good so it makes me want to see what it is actually about. The plain colour and writing is very effective and draws my eyes to it."

"I would be intrigued to find out what it was about, I would then probably search the song to listen to it and find out why it is so good and popular."

If you saw the album in a shop, would it catch your attention?

"Yes, I thought it looked very professional and modern, which would probably make me want to look at it further"

"Yes it would. This is because the writing is plain and stands out well which is drawing my attention to it, rather that it being crowded with words. I also like the colour scheme you have used, really draws my eyes to it."

Recently, there has been an increase in the sale of Vinyl Records. With this in mind, would you say that a vinyl edition of the album would be beneficial?"

"I think the theme of the music and display of the album, video and advert would go well with the sort of people who like vinyl records. Links to that sort of 'Indie' look."

"More people would want to buy it as it looks amazing"

"It would make it different to other albums out there and unique."

After seeing all three products, would you say that they fit together?

"There is a clear link between the colour themes and fonts, that keep the theme running throughout each product. for example the black and white and the logo."

"The colour links them all together, and also the album booklet has lyrics that link, all about love and being together wit someone and all of the times you have shared, which the video also does because it shows you and your boyfriend together sharing magical moments with each other."

With the answers to this questionnaire, I didn't get any comments that I could evaluate my work from as they were all positive!
I am happy with my products and the feedback I got from my target audience, and, looking at the feedback, I am confident that my target audience like my video, advert, and album booklet.
From audience feedback, I have learnt that my target audience like to be intrigued by adverts, rather than having all the information about the band or a single written infront of them, as they won't have anything to research.
Also, they like album covers to catch their attention and make them pick it up if they saw it in a shop, which they say mine does.

"What have you learned from audience feedback?"

Below is a link for a post I made last month after doing some audience research and asking for their opinions on my magazine advert at the time.

The feedback was mainly positive, with a few pieces of constructive criticism, suggesting that I should make the band's logo bigger and decrease the size of the QR Code.

Updated Magazine Advert

The feedback was extremely helpful because I was able to keep the magazine advert design how I like it, but also change it so my target audience also like it, which would make them more likely to stop and read my advert, and hopefully therefore they are more likely to buy the album.

From receiving the audience feedback, I was able to learn how to adapt my piece to meet the needs of my target audience, but also how to change my print products to make them more appealing to my audience.

However, if I were to design my print products again, I might make the writing larger or add more writing to my magazine advert in order to give my audience more information about the band, as this was something I became aware of through my audience feedback.

Vinyl Chart

On the 13th of April, the Official Chart Company announced that they are releasing a separate chart specifically for Vinyl Records.

"Sales of vinyl have grown five fold in the UK in the last five years"

"Figures show sales of vinyl albums are set to grow by another 70% this year."

"2014 witnessed vinyl LP sales reaching a 20-year high in the UK at 1.29 million, following seven years of unbroken growth, and now, new Official Charts Company data for the first quarter of 2015 reveals that this trend is continuing at pace, with vinyl album purchasing up yet again a staggering 69% versus the same period in 2014, and vinyl singles also up 23%."

“The chart will not only help us to better understand which artists and type of music are driving this resurgence, but will also help guide a new generation of younger, but emotionally engaged, fans as they contemplate the vinyl delights that await them.”

Alex Gaskarth, frontman of band All Time Low, midweek leaders on the official albums chart who are also on track to claim one of the biggest-selling vinyl records of the week, said: “What I love is there are different worlds of vinyl fans: there’s the audiophiles who swear by the sound of vinyl, the people who like owning it as a collector’s piece, and then groups like our fans who buy a vinyl of our record simply so they can hang it on their wall.”

This is great news for me because it shows that vinyl records aren't as niche as they used to be, and there is a higher possibility that my vinyl records will sell more because of this. Also, the chart will make vinyl records more accessible to people, so they can search for a record they like, and fans of the artist will want to get is as high up the chart as possible.
